Winona Rosebud Audio Sampler

Craig Armstrong
Guinness / Mustang - Anthony Minghella

This story parallels the way the chaos of life often surprises us by taking us into calmer territory – just like the classic Guinness beer surge.

The advert opens on the downtown disorder of Los Angeles, where we follow a group of convicts as they travel through the city in a police bus. Journeying through the night, the bus finally arrives at a ranch – here the men are informed that it is their job to tame wild Mustangs.

Our hero instinctively understands that trust is not earned through aggression, and that to tame his stallion, he will have to relate to it on a different level. Throwing aside his rope, he meets his mustang’s eyes, opens the pen and releases the horse into the open country beyond… Our hero finally catches up with his Mustang as it stands alone in the middle of a lake. He approaches it, reaches out and finally makes contact with the animal he has tamed through respect and independent thinking.

The advert is a visual feast from director Anthony Minghella, who has won worldwide acclaim for his work on films such as Cold Mountain, The English Patient and The Talented Mr Ripley.

Craig Armstrong provided a new original piece of music to accompany the advert.
