The soundtrack to Best Laid Plans features six instrumental score tracks by Craig Armstrong. If you're looking for music in a similar vain to Rise and Weather Storm, then this is an album worth checking out.
In creating the score, Armstrong has combined moody, dubby beats and loops with an almost classical sensibility, thus creating instrumental epics which at times sound quite haunting and heartbreaking.
The album features a collaboration with Neneh Cherry, called 'Twisted Mess'. The track is wrapped in acoustic guitars and Armstrong's delicate melancholy strings, which cleverly never encroach on Cherry's husky voice.
